It doesn't matter if you are just starting out or you have been playing/doing music for a couple of years, there is always the aspiration for advancement. This explains why you will find different level of 'experience' in a music school..So we often put in effort into training to attain our desired skill level. however, there is always the point where we meet that frustrating feeling of not advancing as well or as fast as we want to, That point where we begin to feel 'stuck'..
In this post you'll learn some easy/helpful steps and practice tips that can help you become a more efficient Musicians.

1. Consistent Practice

Regular practicing cannot be over emphasized when it comes to learning any form of skill set. piano playing is particularly very responsive to practicing, Your advancement/productivity is solely determined by your faithfulness/value for your practice routine. You'd rather want to practice 1 hour daily, than 6 hours 2 times a week because consistency is key to getting the best result. Practice consistently for at least 1 hours daily  this would increase the speed of your advancement because understanding comes faster with repetition. So like it is commonly said in Fitness "NO PAIN NO GAIN" same principles applies here.. you'll need to put in some level of work, consistency, maybe sacrifice at some point.. but the good part is as long as you practice right you will always get rewarded in the end.

2. Set Realistic Goals

It is very important to set goals to practice towards achieving this way you will avoid practicing amidst. One of the most valid reason why musicians get stuck in their advancement most of the time is wrong approach to practicing or rehearsing the best way in my opinion is to pick a particular goal you like to achieve, source for information from the internet, books, your tutor, or another more advanced musician on how to achieve your chosen goal Then you set a consistent practice schedule and consistently practice until that goal is actualized, Then you can repeat the process. So basically just find a goal practice till you achieve practice and repeat in no time you would be amazed at how much advancement you have achieve overtime when you put it all together.

3. Invest Your Money

Is my musical advancement worth my money? yes!! it is worth more music is a unique art that adds great value to a person that comes in contact with it. So music is extremely powerful.. a lot can be achieved through music, music can affect the way you feel it can change it too.. At some points music was known to help improve the situations of depressed people..it has also brought people together at some point that is exactly why music is always a significant part of the soccer world cup😄 so it is a very powerful tool. Invest your money on materials courses and even on your instrument to ensure your advancement because been able to do good music gives you the ability to touch the world in your own way by providing for people what they might not be able to provide for themselves and also adds value to your personality  so invest that money on you!👍

4. Get Advice and Honest Opinions From Other Musicians

Another simple way to improve on yourself is to get honest opinions from your fellow musicians about your playing because sometimes you might be doing something wrong like adding the right things at the wrong place or at the wrong time and you might not be able to know this on your own, So most of the time the best way to find out is through an audience and the best audience in this context are fellow musicians. This is because, Your fellow musicians  can always provide you with various "constructive Criticisms" from their own knowledge and experience. So sometimes its rewarding to stop and ask that other Musician "Hey what do you think about my playing" or "How do you think i can play better" you never can tell you might just get that breakthrough answer that would take your advancement to the next level.

5. Record And Listen To Yourself

Sometimes when you listen to a less experience musician, you may be able to detect the areas the musician needs to improve on. sometimes you may even have solutions to those problems or more advanced ideas that would help the musician advance further. Now imagine been able to do that for yourself.. the best way to do this is to listen to other recordings (done by other musicians) for the same song you did then compare it, if the other recordings sound better in your ears, try to figure out what was added that you didn't think of, or perhaps to have done or added something that you probably shouldn't be adding.. that can also help you figure that out. so you wanna listen to your playing, rate yourself and set a goal to exceed your previous rating from time to time its also fun to do.

I hope this article has been of help to you on your journey to advancement..🙂 feel free to drop your thoughts, ask your question or put up your suggestion in the comments. Good luck to you as you explore and musically advance.👍
